Mecha: Quarry
First ever entry to a jam. Made for Mech Jam IV.
GAMEPLAY
--------------
You control a robot that landed on an unknown planet to mine resources. The longer you explore this rocky surface, the more data can be collected back at home. To help with your survival, we also landed a handy-dandy upgrade terminal - it can exchange various mined minerals into upgrades for both you and your mecha. Be careful though, the planets are inhabited by various dangerous species - they will try to defend their precious resources! Additionally, due to budget cuts, we didn't install weapons on your mecha. Plan your mining expedition as you can't shoot and mine at once!
CONTROLS
--------------
W/A/S/D or Arrows - Movement
E - Enter/exit Mecha
Q - Enter/exit Upgrade terminal
Space/Left mouse button - Shoot or mine (depending on if you're inside mecha suit)

ABOUT
--------------
Created using Unity 2022.3.4f1. Game was made in a week. Terrain is randomly generated using seed and Perlin noise generator. Project was created with scalability in mind - new tiles/resources, upgrades, different enemies can be added easily. Enemy spawn count scales with survived time in game. Added WebGL version for easier access to the game (but keep in mind that WebGL version has worse visual quality/performance, downloadable version is preferred).

This is really well done, love the unique character and mech design and the novelty you having to leave the mech to fight is nice too.
One thing I found is that after a certain point it's impossible to mine anymore (after about 5 mins), because the influx of enemies is so constant and mining is so slow. But some really great potential!
Thanks! Hmm, gameplay seems to be dependent on the seed and RNG aspect of upgrades. If you get a decent seed, choose correct upgrades and don't let enemies to stick too long in the map, it's quite easy to get 10+ minutes of surviving. But there are definitely some balancing issues, will try to fix those in upcoming updates.
Oh thanks, I didn't look at that! I'll have another try later
Added WebGL version after submission time ended upon agreement from host. No new content added (apart bug fixes that were required for Web build).
